“Aspromonte’s diamantine timbre, rich, expressive palette and outstanding care for words…“
The Sunday Times praises our release of “Prologue – Francesca Aspromonte” with Francesca Aspromonte and il pomo d’oro, led by conductor Enrico Onofri! Read a glimpse of the review below!
This “concept album” of 17th-century Italian opera excerpts focuses on the prologues to 11 dramme per musica — including one sacred oratorio, Stefano Landi’s Il Sant’Alessio (1632). Aspromonte’s diamantine timbre, rich, expressive palette and outstanding care for words make her an ideal mistress of ceremonies in Monteverdi’s Orfeo, Caccini’s Euridice, Cavalli’s La Didone and the Landi piece.
