The nominations for 67th GRAMMY Awards® have been unveiled and PENTATONE is honoured to be recognized by the Recording Academy for two of its recordings over the past year. Here is PENTATONE’s Managing Director, Sean Hickey, with his thoughts on the nominations:
“Firstly, we congratulate the always-intrepid Miró Quartet for their moving and diverse survey of the string quartet in America, titled Home, nominated in the Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance category. This release has been rightly celebrated for the Miró’s particular musical vision, and in many ways embodies their leave-taking, and returning to, a place of comfort and safety.
Lastly, we recognize the brilliant opera of the composer and librettist team of Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell, The Shining, nominated in the Best Opera Recording category. Based on the popular book by Stephen King, the work features a stellar cast of singers and the wonderful Lyric Opera of Kansas City, who make their PENTATONE debut in this thrilling human drama. Maestro Gerard Schwarz leads the Kansas City Symphony in this premiere recording of a new American opera classic.”
The 67th GRAMMY Awards® ceremony will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday 2 February 2025.
