Album information
The place of origin of this release was a barber shop in the London district of Kensington: Sir Neville Marriner and Howard Blake not only share a passion for music, but also one for their barber. And it was this hair dresser who established the connection that finally led to this recording.
The release features a joining of forces between the highly talented pianist-conductor-composer, Howard Blake, a leading figure on the
contemporary music scene, and the renowned conductor, Sir Neville Marriner, who twice has been honoured for his services to music, first having been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1979 and, subsequently, having received a knighthood in 1985.
Flautist Jaime Martin, clarinettist Andrew Marriner and bassoonist Gustavo Núñez are also heard in these superlative wind concertos.
