On Campanella, guitarist Sean Shibe performs pieces by jazz musicians Chick Corea and Avishai Cohen, all arranged by his friend and fellow guitarist Forbes Henderson. Corea’s Children’s Songs and Cohen’s Remembering share a gentle playfulness and introspective simplicity, enhanced by Shibe’s intimate performance on classical guitar. Campanella literally means “little bell” in Italian, and the word refers to the way the bassline overlaps with the upper line throughout the arrangement of Avisha’s piece, creating a bell effect.
