Eleonora Buratto was born in Mantua, Italy. After graduating at the "Lucio Campiani" Conservatory, she continued her studies for three years under the guidance of Luciano Pavarotti and then with Paola Leolini.
She made her debut in the role of Musetta in La Bohème in 2007, winning the competition "Adriano Belli" competition at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto.
She was still very young when, in 2009, under conductor Riccardo Muti, she debuted in the role of Creusa in Demofoonte by Jommelli at the Salzburg Festival, the Opèra Garnier and the Ravenna Festival. In 2011, again under the baton of Riccardo Muti, she was Susanna in I due Figaro by Mercadante at the Teatro Real Madrid and, following that, at the Salzburg Festival, the Ravenna Festival and at the Colòn in Buenos Aires. In 2012, under conductor Riccardo Muti, she was Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at the Rome Opera Theatre. In 2013, she was Norina in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Rome Opera Theatre and sang in Chicago in the Bach Mass in C minor with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti. In 2014 she was again Amelia, on tour in Japan with the Rome Opera Company.
At the beginning of 2015 she was Corinna at the Dutch National Opera in Il Viaggio a Reims, directed by Damiano Michieletto and conducted by Stefano Montanari. In March 2015, debuted as Liù at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, directed by Roberto De Simone and under conductor Juraj Valčuha. In May 2015 she was the Contessa di Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Rome Opera Theatre in Giorgio Strehler's memorable production. In June 2015 she made her Maggio Musicale Fiorentino debut as the soprano in Mahler's "Symphony N. 2" conducted by Daniele Gatti. In July 2015 she was Alice in Falstaff conducted by Riccardo Muti at the Ravenna Festival and at Oviedo. In September 2015 she debuted at La Scala in the role of Adina in L'elisir d'amore conducted by Fabio Luisi and in the television version of the same opera wich was broadcast to great acclaim by RAI 5, RSI and ARTE from Malpensa airport. In December 2015 she was Micaela in Carmen under the baton of Zubin Mehta at the opening of the Teatro San Carlo season. January 2016 sees her once again in the role of the Contessa di Almaviva at the Peatro Petruzzelli Bari, under the direction of Chiara Muti and conductor Mattew Aucoin.
Other notable engagements include Nannetta in Falstaff conducted by Zubin Mehta at the Salzburg Festival and Adina in L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Real, Madrid, She was also Musetta in La Bohème at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, at the Montpellier Festival and, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, at Turin's Teatro Regio and on tour in Shangai; she was Despina in Così fan tutte at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. She sang in the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Mahon Opera Theatre, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare in Egitto by Haendel in Modena with the Accademia Bizantina conducted by Ottavio Dantone and then Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos conducted by Daniel Harding at the Salzburg Festival.
In March 2016 she debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Norina in Don Pasquale (with conductor Maurizio Benini, Ambrogio Maestri as Don Pasquale and Javier Camarena as Ernesto). In April 2016 she was again Alice in Falstaff conducted by Riccardo Muti at the Chicago Symphony Center. In June 2016 she debuted in the role of Mimì at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. In September 2016, this time at the Dutch National Opera she was once again the Contessa di Almaviva. Her final opera engagement for 2016 is again in the role of the Contessa di Almaviva on the November tour to Yokohama (Japan) with the Wiener Staatsoper Orchester conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Furthermore, in 2016 Eleonora Buratto made her debut to great acclaim in the duo with distinguished pianist Nazzareno Carusi: on 10th October at the Wigmore Hall in London and on 12th October at the Teatro Bibiena as one of the events celebrating Mantua Italian Capital of Culture 2016. The programme for both concerts included Arias and Romances by Tosti and Alfano.
In 2017 she was Micaela at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Mimì at the Zürich Opernhaus and at the Dutch National Opera. She also made her debut in the role of Donna Anna at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and for the first time sang Richard Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder and in Mahler's Fourth Symphony under conductor Michele Mariotti during the orchestral season at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. And also sang for the first time in Rossini's Stabat Mater in Toledo Cathedral.
2018 began with her debut as Mimì in Italy, at the Teatro San Carlo. In 2018 she also took part in the celebrations to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Rossini's death, singing in the Petite Messe Solemnelle in Vienna and Luxembourg and in the Stabat Mater at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. She was Donna Anna at the Lyon Opera and made her debut at the Arena in Verona as Liu in Turandot and as Micaela in Hugo de Ana's new production of Carmen. She also sang in Rossini's Stabat Mater at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, in a concert to commemorate the anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti's death. Following this, she made her debut in the Verdi Requiem at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples under conductor Juraj Valcuha. At the end of 2018 she is making her debut at the Royal Opera House in London (as Micaela in Carmen). Upcoming 2019 engagements include Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at the Wiener Staatsoper, her debut in the title role in Luisa Miller at the Liceu in Barcelona and Electra in Idomeneo King of Crete at the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Later in the year she will perform at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, at the Teatro di San Carlo, in Tokyo, at the Royal Opera House in London and will make her debut at the Staatsoper in Berlin.
